Mfa here....we are in the studio with producers Patterson and Jodoin. Engineered by Tommaso Colliva. We've moved on from Tecates to Jamison. Some bar-fights occurred.

My lord. We arrived with 15 songs and have cut it down to 12 so far. A week of fifteen hour days in a sweaty, little magical dungeon has yielded some of the most ambitious and heart-melting sounds we've ever created. A cool, refreshing audio water-slide. Is it rock? Is it soul? Is it pop? Is it rap-rock? (definitely not that one hahahaaaaa). We don't what to call it. You can do that for us later...

We do know that this has been life-changing week to say the least. The angels that have helped us are numerous: Thanks all who have donated so far and those who haven't. You are in our hearts all the same. We are making this record with love and primitive energy. We are recording at Stagg Street Studios in LA, ca. Everyone has recorded here. Our engineer in Tommy. He recorded the last 2 "Muse" records. He and Ryan are getting drum sounds right now with ross, our drum tech. Ross did drums for Micheal Jacksons "BAD," Rolling stones and Tom Petty records. It sounds really

good from the control room. More to come....

*Tracking: Music for Animals goes into the studio and plays their songs to get great drum and bass sounds. All great music has a strong foundation.

*Overdubs: Music for Animals layers vocals, guitars, synths, pianos, shakers and cowbells on top of the drums and bass.

*Mixing: Music for Animals goes away and let's producer, Michael Patterson (Beck, P-diddy, She want's revenge) do his magic.

*Mastering: an untold artform that is beyond the scope of this email.

Hey party peeps. Guess what? MFA is on la radio all over the Great Union, so get saddled up for a ride to your cell or computer and request "If Looks Could Kill" on your favorite station if ya got a moment.

In other news, we are honored to be playing with "Fitz and the Tantrums" @ Spaceland June 17th in Silverlake, LA....Before that however, we will be playing with Steelwells @ detroit bar in costa mesa this Monday the 14th of Junio.

Then we are in San Diego on the 18t of Junio at Beauty Bar with Boyscout and Holy Rolling Empire!

Wow long day for MFA!!

Well we spent the better part of 8 hours today re-stuffing 1,000 new CD jewel cases with an actual new CD since the ones we ordered had the wrong music on them! We can't wait to get y'all the new album we're working on but in the meantime we have done a re-issue of "If looks could kill" with some cool new artwork and some remixes by Wallpaper and Nick from Sugar and Gold! These will be available at our next secret show May 15th which we have some free guest passes for....contact us for more details! We're also working on a badass new song in our bedroom right now cannot wait to play it for you!!!!! xoxoxoxoxoxox MFA

Rickshaw was a good time.

We played with Plushgun, Fake your own Death and Marissa Guzman at Rickshaw Stop on Saturday. It was good and loud. Hung with some characters in the crowd including Davis Fontanes and Dennis the Menace along with "Butterfly Bones" frontman, Reese Donahue. We apologize to the Rickshaw Stop, as we received a call from a friend who said, "you guys are supposed to be on right now!" ==== We were in the middle of eating pho and eggrolls at Safflower on 16th @ Valencia all weird. Sorry from the bottom of our animal hearts...After the show, we drank the purest rum from Costa Rica and destroyed our practice space while trying to jam out a new song whilst our friends a lovers waited into the night at the afterparty we never made. Sorry there too :(

Oh hey. Yea, we are just writing/playing music and eating hummus and burritos as often as possible.

Ryan is using alot of 808 kick drum sounds (think Sir mixalot) which he is blending in with his bombastic drum set. Nick is cooking alot of sustainable, local and in seasonal foods while incorporating motown progressions into his guitar/bass playing while Eli is in Costa Rica running from Panamanian officionados, probably wearing speedos he picked up in Australia. Me, I'm eating the highest volume of hummus and trying to learn everything i can about Janet Jackson's production team, Jimmy Jam and Terrry Lewis. They also produced the Human Leagues' "I'm only Human" too. F...ing badasses...
